Year 2 Admissions Process
Due to limited seats, students in Year 1 of their program are not guaranteed a seat in Year 2. To get into Year 2 of your program, we are looking for students who have shown their commitment by meeting course competencies and demonstrating professional skills valued by employers.
To increase your chances of being invited back, we have created the SPUR Assessment process and a rolling grading system to provide you with the opportunity to work towards your goal in gaining admission to Year 2.
SPUR Assessment Process: The SPUR Assessment process was created to provide you with timely and important feedback of your performance in your chosen career pathway. The SPUR process takes place four times per year and includes your gathering evidence of your work, completing a self-evaluation, and discussing your performance in a private meeting with your teacher. In each one of your SPUR meetings, there will be a review of your grades including professional skills and conversation about what you need to do to increase your chances in being accepted into Year 2.
Rolling Grades: CRTC has a rolling grading system to support competency-based learning. Throughout the academic year, you will have the opportunity to develop and improve your technical and professional skills while your semester and final grades will reflect only the most recent competency ratings.
The SPUR Assessment Process and our rolling grading system lets you express your thoughts about your performance while allowing us to take a fair and transparent approach to your grade. Our acceptance process is based on a combination of grades, performance and seat availability within each program. If you are not accepted, you will be placed on a wait list. Sometimes, we have to make tough decisions due to limited seats.
If you have any questions about your grades or performance, please feel free to have this conversation with your teacher. If you have additional concerns, please contact the CRTC principal.
